Artist's Insights:
Q. Color seems to be the unifying factor in these two pairings. Is this what dictated the choices?
A. I think so. I had always admired both Hopper and Cottingham and I read later that Cottingham was also an admirer of Hopper. The Hopper here is understated while the Cottingham sign dominates. I worked with the scale to where I was satisfied. If anything, the ART sign is overstated which is just the way I want it!
